The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is a non-political humanitarian aid organization in New York. JDC has provided humanitarian assistance to Jews and non-Jews in crisis since 1914. Committed to relief for those in distress, renewal of Jewish community life and support of Israel, JDC sponsors and develops social and community assistance in over 70 countries around the world. JDC believes that EACH of us has the moral responsibility to repair the world and alleviate human suffering.
UBC Branch for International Surgical Care ("The UBC Branch") and Dr. Rick Hodes under the auspices of JDC share a commitment to increasing access to treatment and surgical care for individuals suffering from disability and disease in low resource regions of the world like Ethiopia. Since the inaugural Evening to Bring Back Hope in 2012, The UBC Branch has been partnering in the lifesaving humanitarian work of Dr. Hodes. By providing an academic home to Dr. Hodes, this partnership is providing opportunities for research collaboration and will contribute to the sustainability of Dr. Hodes’ work through training, education and development of tomorrow’s global health leaders.
