"Dr. Rick Hodes is one of the people who I think about, whenever I need to summon up a sense of hope for the future of the world. He is the best of what a human can be — generous, kind, tireless in service, warm-hearted, and (perhaps most reassuringly of all) funny. If only we could clone him! But until that day comes, the most we can do is emulate him."

“Doctors always ask why I send photos, why I don't just send the x-rays and blood studies. I want them to know this is a human being. This isn't just a back. This is a soul.”
