Approximately 700 guests gathered to celebrate caring, generosity, and survival — and to advance the goal of an in-country Spine Centre in Ethiopia. Emceed by Global BC's Neetu Garcha, with music by Zada and Promises of Hope led by Howard Blank.

A sold-out crowd of 850 honoured Dr. Rick Hodes and Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, founder of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS). Global National Weekend anchor Robin Gill emceed; Peter Legge interviewed both doctors on stage; musician Moël performed.

The inaugural gala, chaired by Gary and Nanci Segal, honoured the life-saving work of Dr. Rick Hodes and welcomed Rick Hansen on the 25th anniversary of his Man in Motion tour. The evening also marked the launch of the partnership with the UBC Faculty of Medicine Branch for International Surgical Care.
